How to Start Getting Fit!
When you make that decision to get fit, you’re going to hear so many different ways on how you SHOULD do it.
You’re going to have people telling you “This is the best way because it’s what I did” and “Don’t do that I tried it and it didn’t work”. It worked for them so they believe it will 100% work for you.
The thing is, we’re all different and what works for one person doesn’t necessarily mean it will work for you. Don’t feel disheartened if you can’t get into it.
You don’t need to go running and lift weights if you don’t want to- there’s so much out there that can get you fit. Walking, fitness classes, home workouts, martial arts are just a few examples- it’s just what you can do that you will enjoy that matters!
When you’ve found that ‘thing’ that you love and enjoy, don’t feel like you have to train 5 times a week to be fit. Find the balance that works best for you! Build into it! If you want to do once a week then that’s great. If you wanted to do one day training and one day rest that’s perfect! It’s whatever works best with you and your lifestyle.
The best thing about anything to do with fitness is you can create goals to achieve, whether that’s with walking where you want to try walk a certain distance without dying or in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu where you have goals to achieve certain belts! There are always ways to progress!
But don’t underestimate rest: a day off or even a week off! Give yourself time to recover, just like a car, it needs to be driven but if you drive it without stopping to refuel and rest, you’ll break down. Treat your body like a car, look after it. Appreciate and understand the value of rest!
